Wicca/Witchcraft

I have always imagined that nature is divine in itself.  So, the belief that God/Goddess resides in nature in not that far fetched to me.  Also, I like that there are no set rules; no one way to practice your beliefs in Wicca.  Humans are a  part of nature and it can be easy for some  to forget that in such a technology-oriented world. At the same time I must say that I am not a big believer in God/Goddess(s). So, I'm torn.  I do believe in magick however.

Many people think that as long as the universe goes unexplained there is magick in it, there will be religions.  But, these religions all lead to the same end and it is foolish to think of one as above the other.

I believe that the world is full of magick.  Just because something is explained by science doesn't make it any less magickal.

To start off, I found this YouTube video that's an intro to Wicca...

I find it extremely helpful and interesting to study Wicca.  But I would say that I am more of a Witch than a Wiccan.  Wicca is a religion and Witchcraft is a practice.  I am in no way an expert on either subject so don't take my word for granted.  As I said before, no single Witch or Wiccan believes the exact same thing.

On another note...

Found this beautiful song, it gave me chills!

I like this one too...

Elements

I'm most closely tune to the element air.  Which makes sense because I am a Gemini.  I love the feel of wind on my face more than anything, be it a cool summer breeze or a burst of winter air.  Listening to the whispering trees and breathing in the crisp night air are some of my favorite past times.  That's not to say that I don't relate to the other elements as well, but none of them outshine air.  Fire would be my second choice as an element.

If you are wondering about your element I urge you to take a look at this site...

Alter Representing Four Elements

Just started on my alter, I have the elements; Wind, Fire, Air, and Water represented.  Note that I used the feathers my conure Henry lost while molting for Air and a small horse figurine that survived a fire for the element Fire, a small fountain for water and a orchid plant for earth.  This is just the beginnings of an alter and it's not yet the way I want it.

This might not be an alter in the traditional sense, but when I look at it a feeling of calm and contentment washes over me which is what I wanted when I first set out.

Cleansing A Dream Catcher

I have so many bad dreams, every night and have been meaning to cleanse my dream catcher for quite some time.  I found this video to be helpful but lacking.  I felt that I should say something to help coax the negative energy out and so I did.

After I cleansed the catcher I immediately got a headache.  There must have been a ton of negative energy built up in there.

Note: This really works and it's not some sort of "mind over matter" thing because I was skeptical that it would indeed work.  I haven't had a bad dream since. ^_^

History

This video contains a brief history of Witchcraft, not Witchcraft itself but more to do with Witch  hunts and trials in England.

Documentary on Gerald Gardner, who is a great founder of the modern Wicca religion.  However, personally he is not someone I hold in high regard due to certain aspects of his life that I simply don't agree with.  That said, without him Wicca and even Witchcraft would not be what it is today without him.

Witchcraft Today...

“Wicca is a deep appreciation and awe in watching the sunrise or sunset, the forest in the light of a glowing moon, a meadow enchanted by the first light of day.   It is the morning dew on the petals of a beautiful flower, the gentle caress of a warm summer breeze upon your skin, or the warmth of the summer sun on your face.  …  It is being in the presence of Mother Earth’s nature and being humbled in reverence. ” - written by the founder of wicca.com
