The Lone Ranger - Movie Review

I can only describe The Lone Ranger as being manic-depressive.  When you weren't laughing out loud you were just so depressed.  Which is a refreshing change from what the majority of movies put you through nowadays.  The combination kept you interested and entertained throughout.  And, I can say with certainty that if you loved the classic version of the Lone Ranger TV series you won't be disappointed with the movie version.  In fact, you might even like it more (I do).  Though different from the old version it stays true.

The soundtrack was interesting to say the least.  It started off with a violin type of music and ended up with the old theme song.  I rather enjoyed it because when the music started playing and the first scene was some carnival scene with a Ferris Wheel I thought for sure that the movie would be completely different from the series and not altogether good, but I'm more than happy with the outcome.

I do have one question, how did Tonto get out of jail?  However, I'm fine not knowing.  There are plenty of ways it could have happened and life is best lived with a bit of mystery (I suppose the majority of people would wonder about that crow, in my opinion some things are best left unsaid).

New Manga - 5 Cats

5 Cats is a mixture of The Cat Returns and Kekkaishi with a dash of Ouran High School Host Club.

It's about Kei, a high school student, training to be a magician at the 5 Cat's Cafe.  The cafe is a place in-between the human world and the magical one.

Da Vinci's Demons

I would describe Da Vinci's Demons is a mixture of Sherlock and The Time Machine (movie, newer version).  Basically, it's awesome.  There is a bit much nudity for my taste (little kids should not be watching) but Leonardo's inventions, fight scenes, and narcissistic personality are too entertaining not to watch.

You can watch the premier online at here...

Hannibal

Have you noticed that there are a lot of serial killer shows out right now?  I was a little wary of watching this one after I got freaked out by the horror that is The Following, but I'm glad I decided to watch it in the end.

There is one particular character I'm fascinated with and that would be Will Graham (special agent looking for the killer).  More specifically his "pure empathy".  Can you imagine having that? In some ways he reminds me of Dr. Daniel Pierce from Perception.

New Hairstyle

Got my hair curled today and I think I'll keep this hairstyle for a while.  It didn't take to long to curl, less than half an hour but I was watching the first episode of The Walking Dead so I can't say for sure.

From people's commentary I thought this show would be too gory for my taste but it's not even close (after watching five seasons or so of Supernatural I'm kind of desensitized).

On another note, I start beekeeping classes this Friday!  I'm so excited!

New Manga - Demon Lord at Work!

This is an amusing story about a Demon Lord and Hero who get stuck in the human world without their powers, forced to take mundane jobs in a race to learn how to go back.

From my point of view the Demon Lord (Maou) is not such a bad guy, which makes me wonder how he became the Demon Lord in the first place.  All he's done so far is save people when the supposed "hero" is thinking of ways to kill him.

Manga Update

• Owari no Seraph
• Some bits are more realistic than others, but this could be a good manga.

• Terra Formars
• Nothing good happens to the characters in this manga, like the movie Predator they pretty much all die horrible deaths but for some reason you keep reading and hope for the best.

• Adventure of Sinbad
• Interesting so far, if a bit childish.

New Iron Man Trailer

This movie just went way up in the list of movies I want to watch.

Forgotten TV Shows

When nothing new is on or I'm waiting for an episode I often re-watch my favorite TV shows or shows that have been dropped/canceled.  Most of the time the dropped shows are quite good.  It's hard to believe that no one liked them.  Recently I started watching Endgame.  It's about a genius chess master, Arkady Balagan, who is unable to leave a hotel.  To pay the extravagant fees he helps solve mysteries.  And while Endgame will never be in my top five TV shows I wouldn't say it isn't worth watching.  Endgame is one of those shows that puts things in perspective.  I love how it makes you think.

On another note, I'm still having artist's block.  I need some new ideas.  Scratch that, I've got plenty of ideas, what I need are some good references. Just a little something to get the thoughts flowing.
