Frozen - Movie Review

Frozen is a pretty good movie with brilliant animation and some really genius ideas with the ice that looked beautiful.  Jack Frost should learn a few of those tricks.   Erroneously, I though that this wasn't a musical, so you can imagine my shock once people started breaking out in song.  Even then, the first two (three if you count the intro music) songs I actually liked.  Everything after that was grating.  Still, the humor managed to offset the damage done more often than not so, this still makes my top ten favorite animations list.

Side notes/minor spoilers:  I had hoped Elsa would get together with Kristoff and I still can't imagine why that didn't happen.  Oh well.  I also strongly dislike how wolves were portrayed in this film.  Wolves do not go around attacking people.  They just don't, nor do they need any more bad publicity while they're an endangered species.

The Lone Ranger - Movie Review

I can only describe The Lone Ranger as being manic-depressive.  When you weren't laughing out loud you were just so depressed.  Which is a refreshing change from what the majority of movies put you through nowadays.  The combination kept you interested and entertained throughout.  And, I can say with certainty that if you loved the classic version of the Lone Ranger TV series you won't be disappointed with the movie version.  In fact, you might even like it more (I do).  Though different from the old version it stays true.

The soundtrack was interesting to say the least.  It started off with a violin type of music and ended up with the old theme song.  I rather enjoyed it because when the music started playing and the first scene was some carnival scene with a Ferris Wheel I thought for sure that the movie would be completely different from the series and not altogether good, but I'm more than happy with the outcome.

I do have one question, how did Tonto get out of jail?  However, I'm fine not knowing.  There are plenty of ways it could have happened and life is best lived with a bit of mystery (I suppose the majority of people would wonder about that crow, in my opinion some things are best left unsaid).

Now You See Me - Movie Review

In my humble opinion, Now You See Me is the best movie of the year (so far anyway).  There was never a dull moment; every scene packed with entertainment.  I had worried that the explanations for the magic tricks would ruin the movie but they just made me more impressed.

Lately I'm sure you've noticed movies have been lacking an air of mystery.  I can always guess what's going to happen next but not this time.  This time, I was on the edge of my seat with curiosity.

And, I have to say; my favorite scene was "Freeze!" at the end of act two.  So funny.

Movie Review - Oblivion

Recently Tom Cruise has been doing a lot better in his acting.  For a while there it was almost as if he was playing the same person over and over.  However, he did an excellent job in Oblivion.

The movie is very intricate yet still easy to understand.  There's a major aspect that I didn't expect at all, whoever made the trailers did a fantastic job (I love it when I'm surprised).  A few parts were sappy, just a bit, but overall it was awesome with a pretty good ending.  Things weren't looking so good for Jack and I was thinking it would be sad, but it was bittersweet.

The only thing I'm wondering about is what happened to the dog?  You know, the grey one?  He's in one scene and then just disappears.

Upcoming Movies #7 (Trance)

This may be the most action packed thriller I've yet to see.  The trailer was a bit confusing on what's real and what isn't but sill, it looked good.  Very good.  I'm a little worried about the main character loosing a finger or two when the mob guys torture him for information.  Loosing body parts is really the only thing I can't handle in movies (or TV shows).  It makes me feel sick to my stomach, perhaps something happened to me in a past life because I can't handle it, at all.  Stabbing, knife wounds, broken bones, etc. are fine but loosing body parts are not.

Anyways,  the movie is about an art auctioneer who with and underground gang plots to steal a masterpiece by Goya.  However, Simon (auctioneer) idiotically double-crosses the gang during the robbery.  The gang boss, Franck, hits him on the head and throughout the movie Simon tries to remember what happened to the painting.

Release Date is March 14th, 2013

Upcoming Movies #6 (After Earth)

I get chills everytime I watch this trailer.  The effects are magnificant and I can hardly wait for it to hit theaters.

What I don't get about the movie are the animals.  So, if all the plants have evolved to kill humans why haven't any of the animals evolved?  Why didn't the plants evolve to kill them too?  How can the plants tell the difference?  Who fast did the plants evolve that humans couldn't destroy them?

I have loads more questions but I'll wait until after I watch the movie before judging it further.

Upcoming Movies #5 (Oblivion)

Yet another movie with Tom Cruise, Oblivion is about future Earth and one mans (Jack Harper)  "confrontation with the past" and a fight to save mankind.

Skeptical of this well-worn topic I was pleasantly surprised that the trailer looked so good.  Though it was a bit confusing at parts, overall it was action packed and pretty intriguing.

Upcoming Movies #4 (The Wolverine)

The Wolverine is one of the movies I am looking forward to most.  In the previous movie about Wolverine we learned a lot about Logan's past.  This new installment is about Logan's future more specifically  what happens to Logan after Professor X "dies".

To sum it up, Logan goes to Japan to train with a Samurai.  However, there is  not much else known about the movie.

Upon watching the trailer there I've concluded that this movie will be EPIC.  .

Upcoming Movies #3 (The Host)

The Host is another adaption of a book written by Stephenie Meyer.  I honestly hope it will be good because for the most part I liked it.  The concept that the Earth is invaded by aliens is not new in any sense but not many have ventured far into the Earth already having been taken over from the beginning.  I suppose we just don't want so see ourselves as a hopeless case.

Plus, there is the added aspect that people are more peaceful when we are not ourselves.  If you think about it, human kind is violent and selfish at its core.  It's in our very nature to think of ourselves above others.  We obsess over any heroic act because there aren't many people that act truly heroic.

Upcoming Movies #2 (Now You See Me)

I love magic and illusions so I have been waiting quite some time for a new illusionist movie to come out.  However, I suspect that I might be disappointed in this case.  Though the trailer has some good effects and a few funny bits the story line itself feels lacking.  Not very well planned out.  If you're going to have a movie surrounded by magic there needs to be something more to it than thievery.  There are more than enough Robin Hood stories out in the world already.

Upcoming Movies #1 (Iron Man 3)

Honestly I have know idea what's going to happen in the new iorn man movie.  The trailer is confusing, you can't even tell who's wearing the new iorn man suit.  The movie reviews aren't any better at explaining.  The only option left is to wait and see.  What I can say is that the movie looks exciting, action packed, and more in depth than either of it's predecessors.  A definite must see.

Warm Bodies

Just watched the trailer for Warm Bodies and it looks awesome!  I'll have to read the book first but I can hardly wait for it to come out in theaters.  I'm betting it will be much better than the twilight movies too.  If I had a list of what movies I was looking forward to most this would make the top five. ^^

Twilight Thoughts

So, the new Twilight movie is coming out soon.  I have to say the whole thing is getting a little overblown.  I mean, the books were okay but the movies are just awful.  The only good thing about them are the action scenes of which there are not many.  Also, just by watching the trailer I am disgusted.  Edward's child is suppose to be a BABY not a five year old.  Perhaps a child of three at most I would have accepted.  Plus, the Cullen's (and friends) never actually fought the Voltori.  In the end I'd rather just watch the movie when it comes out on DVD.

What I'm really looking forward to is Hansel and Gretel (and I'm really hoping it is better than the recent Snow White movie which was a rip off of Princess Mononoke).
