New Cat Food

Fairly recently I have been researching cat food.  Boring, I know, but necessary.  I should start with my reasoning I suppose.  Sweetheart (one of my cats)  has a sensitive digestive system and was on a special diet.  However, I wondered just what was so special about it.  The main issue I had was all of the additives/by-products/preservatives/grains it had.  Those things are found in so many store bought brands it's unreal.  Long story short, I ended up choosing PureVita dry cat food and NutriSource wet food.  Both are all natural and grain free.  On the negative side, they're expensive.  Lucky that my cats eat less on this diet.

Now, there is much controversy on whether dry or wet food is better.  Most say wet, personally I like to mix it up a bit, as no one cat food is perfect.  Fun fact: people say that dry food is better for your cats teeth, the truth of the matter is cats swallow their kibbles.

I'm not quite brave enough to try an all raw diet, but maybe one day.  And, it's too much of a hassle to cook up a homemade diet, not to mention extremely hard to get all of the necessary vitamins and minerals.  I think I'll try baking some cat treats though. That should be fun.

Castiel Puppy - Finished Drawing

I was planing on coloring this in with pastels, but apparently they don't work well on printer paper.  So, here is Cas drawn in color pencils.

Kitty

There is no actual reason for me writing this post other than to show you this adorable kitty picture that I found on Facebook.  So here it is...look at it!  Look!

Oh, and Perception returns on June 18th which is just two days after my birthday!  I wonder how I should spend it.  Usually, I just go out to dinner with family, see a movie, and come home to eat chocolate cake and ice cream.  Still, I would like to do something different this time.  Now that I think more about it last time I went to a wolf sanctuary which was great, but I felt that the wolves shouldn't be kept in such small enclosures.  They deserve more.

One day I would love to own my own wolf sanctuary, far away from the general populous where they can run for miles without worry of hunters.

My Cat Has Schizophrenia

I think my cat, Sweetheart has Schizophrenia.  She has all of these symptoms to a varying degrees and a few other that I did not find listed.

  • Frantic grooming of the flank and tail
  • Dilated pupils
  • Fixation with the tail, often manifested as swishing of the tail
  • Bouts of hyperactive or aggressive behavior
  • Rippling of the skin
  • Apparent hallucinations
  • Loud vocalizations
  • Sensitivity to touch along the spine; often, stroking of the spine leads to bouts of strange behavior
  • Mood swings

  • Read more: Cat Schizophrenia - VetInfo

Well after this slightly depressing news (it wasn't really a surprise but more of  a confirmation)  I needed to cheer up.

    And so...

If your wondering what others symptoms she has...
    • Strongly dislikes any change in the environment
    • Dislikes meeting new people and doesn't get along with my family either
    • Dislikes change in schedule, she has her habits and she sticks to them
    • She does have a strange habit of reaching one paw out and gently pawing at my face or hand.  I think its to see if I'm really here, but I'm not sure.

    Sweetheart is a Love Bug

Spent the day at my moms and when I came back Sweetheart was waiting for me at the door to my room.  I felt really bad when I turned the lights of because her eyes squinted up.  She licked my hands and rubbed her face against mine for the next twenty minutes or so.  I think she hates it when I leave.  As a previous shelter cat she is use to seeing her loved ones leave and never come back.

Here is a short video I took of her and Henry earlier in the day...

    Drawing Again

So, I haven't been drawing much lately (not for the past 6 months) and decided it's time to start back up again.

I found these two cute pictures on the Internet...

...and combined them to make this...

Note:  I'm not trying to copy anyone's work, this is purely for myself.  I will not be selling this sketch.

    My Kitty Cat

So here I am, laying down on my bed and Sweetheart (one of my kittys) climbs on my chest and starts kneading my arm and as my mouth opens in a silent scream I think to myself 'Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!'  It's amazing how such little claws can hurt so much.  Still, she's so cute!
